Alouette is a really cool product, but consumers and retailers were confused. "What is this?" they would ask. And rightfully so. Alouette looks like a wood shutter, it diffuses light like a shade, and lifts, lowers and tilts like a blind. Our answer – position Alouette with your dealer sampling kit as the best of all three with the line, "Shutter, shade. blind. Combined."

Heritance is a wood shutter – the best wood shutter, that is. Unlike Hunter Douglas' other products, Heritance is like furniture, installed right into the window, permanently. So there are many options in terms of frames, which all need to be shown to a potential customer. On top of that, Heritance introduced 100 new colors, all of which needed to be shown on a real piece of the shutter. Thus, this amazing sampling box, which was a feat of thinking and engineering.

It's Hunter Douglas' most expensive fabric product – Silhouette is the flagship. So when we were asked to design this sample book, we asked ourselves, "What makes this product so special?" The answer is Silhouette's unmatched ability to transform light, which actually allows a homeowner to turn light into a decorating tool. "Design with light" became the theme and everything about the sample book backs up the idea.

Vignette is Hunter Douglas' line of "modern roman shades." They're modern because they're sleeker than traditional roman shades, with none of those eyelets and cord on the back. The tailored look of Vignette, combined with its luxurious fabrics made us think of fashion – so that's how we positioned this sample book, with black and white fashion photography juxtaposed against rich, glamorous room shots.
