Stratus was the first and still only credit card to offer unheard of rewards, culminating with private jet travel. So obviously the logo and accompanying business papers needed to be sophisticated and rich. The company itself was designed to compete with the most exclusive credit card in the word, Amex Black. A beautiful, white card seemed perfectly appropriate.

When Stratus Rewards came along, even the most exclusive card in the word, Amex Centurion, or Amex Black as it was colloquially known, gave its cardholders irrelevant rewards. Stratus aimed to turn all that around by offering exclusive memberships, unheard of trips, A-list merchandise and the most coveted reward of them all – private jet travel. We designed and wrote the site to get that point of difference across and developed a complex back-end engine that allowed members to redeem points for rewards.

To bring its "best, most relevant rewards of any credit card, ever" positioning to life, Stratus created a lifestyle advisory board, made up of luminaries from the fashion, beauty, entertainment and travel world. Then, we featured each member and his or her philosophy in an ad – the headline for each was "Living at Altitude."

Stratus launch parties were held in Santa Monica, New York, Dallas and Chicago. Each one was invitation-only. The lists came from our partners, companies such as Abercromie & Kent, Exclusive Resorts, Sports Club LA, Vivre and many more. And yeah, the people we wanted showed up. Check out Randy Jackson, of American Idol fame.

One of Stratus Rewards' affinity partners, Sony, provided them access to the latest technologies, including the largest production flat screen televisions. So, it was fitting to develop a brand film showcasing Stratus' program in compelling, dramatic form. The brand film was featured at launch parties in New York, Chicago, Dallas and Los Angeles, at tradeshows and online to create a true brand experience.
